The “Bickle” is an authentic part of Port Credit’s heritage. Funds were provided to make the “Bickle” roadworthy in preparation for the Port Credit 175 Celebrations and future community festivities. The public involvement with this piece of Port Credit history will make the restoration all the more significant to our community culture – past, present and future.

Blackwood Gallery - University of Toronto

The Blackwood Gallery invites artists based in Port Credit to submit proposals that address issues of interest and concern to the Port Credit community. The second art exhibition curated by Christof Migone took place at 55 Port Street east in July, 2010 and was free to the public. www.blackwoodgallery.ca

Busker Fest 10

A free 3-day event in the village of Port Credit offering visitors a chance to see street performers entertain with non-stop unique and eclectic performances. Busker Fest 5 contributes to the social and cultural development of Port Credit by bringing all ages together. A “Find a Way” 5km Run/Walk raises funds to help build awareness of teen suicide as well as delivering some very well-received presentations to high school students and youth groups. The run/walk is an ideal opportunity to reach out and help young people find a way to self-efficacy, goal setting, determination and hope that will inevitably save lives as well as help reduce the incidence of suicide. www.findawayrun.com

A one-of-a-kind artworks auction event inspired by the immigration and diversity themes that are unique to our community in support of Family Services Peel (FSP). FSP provides a range of free counselling services that includes assistance with personal, financial and employment concerns. Sensitive to cultural diversity, FSP is a community-based agency that works to strengthen families and individuals while striving for a supportive and responsive community.

Mississauga Arts Council - Youth Showcase

The annual Mississauga Youth Art Showcase highlights young visual and performing artists from across the city. The showcase acts as an opportunity for youth to be recognized and celebrated while gaining experience in the arts community. This year’s theme was biodiversity which coincides with the Year of Biodiversity, designated by the United Nations. www.mississaugaartscouncil.com

Mississauga Waterfront Festival

The Mississauga Waterfront Festival is a 3-day signature family festival event held in Port Credit Memorial Park, Mississauga, that celebrates arts, culture and civic heritage. The mission of The Mississauga Waterfront Festival is to present a weekend of great entertainment and to provide an opportunity to promote awareness of Service Clubs and other non-profit organizations through active participation in a variety of professional and community activities fostering a positive image of the importance of families in the community. Through the unique “Sponsor a Child” program, since 1997, approximately 30,500 children have been helped. www.themwf.com. Upcoming event, June 2015.

Movies in the Park

The Rotary Club of Mississauga presents movie nights under the stars at Port Credit Memorial Park. The Lakeshore Movie Nights in the Park will play recent, popular, family-oriented movies on 6 Friday evenings in July and August. Families from all over the community bring their lawn chairs, blankets, coolers. The events are free and open to all. www.rotarymovienights.com

Tim Horton's Southside Shuffle Blues & Jazz Festival

Port Credit's Jazz Festival, Mississauga's Musical Mardi-Gras, is a 3-day event held in Port Credit's Memorial Park. With an abundance of events, the Shuffle features renowned Canadian and International acts and performances that attracts people from all over Ontario and the United States. Lakeshore Road is closed from Hurontario St. to Stavebank Road Saturday afternoon for the Festival's free Street Shuffle, with over 25 bands and thousands of fans. Enjoy the music, food, entertainment and excitement in a safe, fun and festive atmosphere. www.southsideshuffle.com
